Hello friends! It's Kim.
After multiple requests from many of you, I'm excited to share with you the first official Kim Ragsdale Newsletter. It will serve as a way for me to let you know how to be first in line for upcoming events and classes (and avoid the dreaded Wait List) as well as a way to share a little inspiration, one artist to another. It will NOT be a daily or even weekly ad-stuffed, generic, or AI-generated annoyance. We don't need another thing to fill our SPAM folders, thank you very much. We need a way to replace constant contention with meaningful connection, less comparison and more community, less breaking news and more building up the creativity in one another. I know, that's a funny goal for a "newsletter", but isn't that the way it goes in the artistic world?
And what better way to start this Newsletter thing than with a big, BIG announcement? Well, friends, I am beyond thrilled to share with you that my husband and I have officially relocated to Oregon's beautiful Columbia River Gorge. That's right! We've moved! We are now living in The Dalles, and we couldn't be happier. The Dalles is around an hour from Portland, and just 20 minutes from Hood River, a very vibrant art community with a thriving tourist scene. Best of all, it's an inspiring place for any artist, filled with the lifestyle, agriculture, scenery, and people that make Oregon one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

NEW BEGINNINGS
The move will also allow me to return to the classroom, which I love. I will be holding Drawing Realistic Textures in Pencil classes at a wonderful Art Supply store in Hood River, with a full classroom. We will be starting immediately! My first class will be Saturday, July 26 from 11 AM to 1 PM, so sign-up soon! The class will have an introductory discount--just $50--with all supplies provided, including an initial sketch we will work on as the focus of our class. We will start with drawing basics, which will cover the supplies I use in my personal artwork, navigating the many types of paper, and serve as a fun and welcoming entry into the endless possibilities of the graphite artistic world. I will personally introduce the techniques that have enabled me to create award-winning pieces, complete with the textures that make sketches come to life. Pending interest, a follow up class is scheduled for September, which will move students onto more intermediate and advanced techniques, as well as opportunities for additional one on one instruction, for any serious and/or ambitious students.
This Newsletter will be my primary method of updating all of you on upcoming events and classes, as well as peeks into current projects and glimpses into this artist's life. And as every artist is, at heart, a student, I welcome any feedback you provide. Please let me know if there are subjects or subject matter you would like me to explore, as well as recommendations for future original drawings: certain breeds of horses, wolves, buffalo, or any unique or common peeks into the ranch life I love. My easel always has a future blank canvas, so to speak, and I would love to fill it with the things that inspire you, my friends.
Thanks for reading. I'm so excited for you to join me along this ever-changing journey we call the artist's life. The future is as bright as we make it, and we will always make it better together!
Always,
Kim
