Hello friends, it's Kim.Thank you to all that have signed up for my monthly Kim Ragsdale newsletter. I am committed to staying connected to all my friends, students and clients who have experienced my fine art journey. Some of you have been with me from the beginning (and not actually from the time I was 6 years old when I started drawing everything!) You have watched as I have worked on perfecting my craft, becoming an art instructor and learning the ins and outs of juried art exhibitions.
You have followed my career as I have been featured in national magazines -- Western Horseman, Cowboys and Indians and Western Art Collector. My local newspapers have been very gracious in promoting my work and activities throughout the years. You should see the boxes of print and magazine articles I have stashed in my studio! If you are new to my art reality, welcome aboard!

I had an inspiring July and August. I started my first class of Drawing Realistic Textures in Pencil at the Tokki Art Supply in Hood River, OR. My students ranged in age and ability, but everyone was an enthusiastic learner! 2 hours flew by and I was able to share with them many of my techniques and some special tricks for creating lifelike drawings. I received great feedback from the attendees and will take that information into my next series of classes.
I participated in the Wasco County Fair outside of The Dalles, OR. They had a professional category for artists. I was fortunate to have won the Best in Show, Champion and Reserve Champion in my class. They even showcased my work in glass cases to protect them from any damage.
It's September and my world is ramping up in the artistic realm. I will be featured at an innovative business in The Dalles for First Friday, September 5th from 5 - 8 pm. It is called The Workshop, (116 E. Second Street, The Dalles, OR) and showcases 4 entrepreneurial women: 2 artisan bakers, one coffee shop magician and a DIY specialist/gift shop manager. It's a beautiful creative space and I will be focusing on displaying my work in my art booth and demonstrating my techniques on my easel during the event. Please come and see this wonderful place of creativity, ​
My next class at Tokki Art Supply is September 13 from 11 am to 1 pm. This will be Introduction to Realistic Drawing 1.0. I will also teach two classes in October and two classes in November. The November classes will be titled Realistic Drawing 2.0: Beyond the Basics. The description of the content of the class will be in my October newsletter. Click on the Tokki logo to sign up for the September class. Sign ups for October and November will be available soon from the Tokki website.
